FISHING IN MEXICO

This year has gotten off to a flying start, but I finally found some time to go fishing in Mexico! It seemed like it was never going to stop raining in California but finally the rain lifted and we were able to race Monday morning. Sunday night we had an awesome car, but with the sun out on Monday the car wouldn?t handle and we finished 14th. I didn?t race in the Nationwide Series race so I was able to fly out after the cup race and into San Carlos, Mexico early Monday afternoon.

I keep my 41? Luhr?s Convertible deep-sea fishing boat ?Little Loose? in San Carlos on the Sea of Cortez. The fishing in San Carlos is excellent year-round but this time of year we focus on deep water fishing, catching 25 to 50-pound Yellowtail in 40? to 60? water. We had some luck this trip and were able to catch a few yellowtail. It was awesome to get out on and get away from all the craziness.

I think one of my favorite parts of fishing in San Carlos is pulling into the marina and having your catch cleaned and packaged to take home. But even better is sending some of the catch to the ?Marina Terra? restaurant for dinner. There is nothing like eating your fresh catch hours after pulling it into the boat!

But like every good vacation it came to an end and I had to head back to work in Las Vegas. We had a good weekend finishing second in the Nationwide race and third in the Sprint Cup race. The year is off to a good start so far, I hope we can head to Atlanta and keep up the momentum.

Greg,

Looks like the vacation paid off - stay well rested! Congrats on the awesome start to 2008. Second in points and looking better every week. You owned happy hour Saturday at Atlanta. So, close I bet the first of many victories. is in the near future.

Man, it's great to see the 16 Ford running back in the front of the pack where it belongs. I have to say, Carl's and Matt's teams are incredible as well. Keep Robbie in his new position happy, cause it's obvious the man knows how to right the ship.

Best of luck,
-Kevin

I am so excited to see you running up front this season! You and your team deserve it! 2nd in points!!! That is great...we are all excited for you and we support you in all that you do. Glad to hear that you had a chance to relax in Mexico...everyone needs some down time every once in a while! We're with you all the way!!!

Greg,

I must say that I get antsy on Sunday mornings again after the great start by the #16 team this season. The last couple of years have been somewhat long watching the Hendrick cars upfront. It's time for the #16 to return to 2005 form and end up putting the 3m Ford in first at the end of 2008! Good luck and stay safe!

Hey man keep up the great racing. Also gotta love San carlos mexico have to say good fishing been a couple of times good luck

Douglas (March 27, 2008)

Da Biff...you are the man dude. The best car control in auto racing as far as I'm concerned. I'm glad you got the top 10 in the 500 and kept that mo-mo rolling. I know you'll play it smart at Martinsville. All you have to do is bring home a top 25 and this next stretch of tracks is all you bro. Tell Jack to break out the check book for the man who gave him his first title.

JimRod in OH (March 28, 2008)

AWESOME pics! Sounds like you all really had a great time!! Well bud....This is YOUR year!! The rest of the Nascar world is going to see what us fans have known for yearsssssss!!! That u rock and are the BEST dang driver there is!!! Hellllo championship!!!

Deb W (April 03, 2008)

Greg, I look forward to meeting you in Phoenix, your passion for the Sea of Cortez caught my eye. My father and I go to a spot called Rancho Larenero (spelling) and actually spent a couple of extra days down there because of Sept 11th 2001. That was kind of wild. Anyway it is by far some of the best fishing anywhere. Rooster's were hot and I caught a good size bull Dorado.Along with a whole lot of Tuna. Anyway, I wish you luck this year keep racing hard.

Christopher P Tvetene (April 03, 2008)

Whatever u do, don't let the bad luck at Texas get u down. It was out of YOUR control Greg. Just always remember the great driver U are. No matter what happened, U will always have the upperhand in controlling your destiny..... The championship.... Cuz U are THAT good!!!

DebW (April 08, 2008)

Greg That was cool you doing that burn-out on the back-stretch at the end of the race at Texas!!! Just wanted to say thanks!!! That will be the thing we all will remember the most about that race

bert w (April 09, 2008)

Greg,
I am a BIG fan of you! I went to the Daytona 500 in 2008. It was my first race. I was rooting for you the whole time. I have lots of favorite drivers, but that Sunday, I was screamin for you! Keep up the awesome work! Keep fightin'!

Katie (In Vancouver!) (April 10, 2008)

You rock Greg! Keep the Ford goin strong!

Jeff (April 10, 2008)

I used to look forward to the Nationwide races and watching you in the 16. What is the deal ? Are you not running as many nationwide races this year ? Either way it is great to see the cup car up front again.

Sam G (April 11, 2008)

Greg,

It's great to see the #16 Ford running in the top 10 every week. I know you are excited about how the season is going so far. I look forward to seeing you race at Talladega, maybe I will bring you some luck there. Good luck on the season and put that Ford in victory lane.

Good Luck,
Neal

Greg,

Hang in there. Talledega is just a restrictor plate roller coaster. You are the one to take the cup this year. Don't ask, but I know that. I go to the Califoria races and enjoy your radio conversations. You have a feel for your car that other drivers only wish they had. That's why Roush gave you the call.

You are still in the top 10. Roush can get your car through the year. Keep the belief. The cup is yours.

Greg,
Just drive like you did in '05, AGGRESIVE to the front and you'll be the Champion this year. Show 'em you are just as good as Kyle but you'll come home with the bacon..

Ray (May 11, 2008)

Stay focused greg. Ya just gotta get into that chase and anything can happen. You were the man at Darlington and WHAT A SAVE on that shot from Kyle Busch. I think you lit a fire under your team after the race. Stay together, stay positive and show them who the best driver on the circuit. Go Greg and the #16 and Roush/Fenway Racing Team!!!!!!!!! PS: Don't forget that 18 car either... u owe him one!

Great pics of your fishing trip. My step sons grandma Maggie use to coach you in baseball when you were much smaller, lol. I have seen pics of you in your baseball uniform, it's cool to know someone who has coached you and to tell stories of you playing ball. Good luck and hope you get that win soon.

Greg, Watching 43 cars go around in circles is OK, watching you and 42 other cars at 190 mph is awsome. Thank you for the great racing!!!

Casey Clemmer (July 13, 2008)

Hi Greg,

You went out on 2 fishing Charters with me on Seneca Lake for Lake Trout when you were at the "Glen". The 1st time was when you were Rookie of the year. Greg you made an impression on my late son John that he cherished to his final day. I throughly enjoyed taking you out fishing, you are one hell of a nice guy. Good luck this year, I always pull for you Greg. Your fishing boat is Fantastic, I bet when you get the time to go, there is nothing like it. Take care, and again thanks so much for the way you spent time talking to my late son John.

Best of luck,

Captain Jack Prutzman

From one Track Champ to another. You've come a long ways from your #10 street stock Nova at Portland Speedway(may she rest in peace) to where you are now. I live in the Charlotte area now but my heart is still in Portland. Congrats and keep your eye on the prize!
